There's Still Time to enroll your child in Summer Science Camp!

The Detroit Science center offers several different and exciting five-day camps throughout the summer, and many of our upcoming camps have open slots. So now that summer is in full swing and the kids are starting to get antsy, it's the perfect time for Summer Science Camp!

Our themed programs for children entering Preschool through 8th grade feature Chrysler IMAX® Dome Theatre and Dassault Systèmes Planetarium shows, 200+ hands-on exhibits, outdoor activities and visits to other nearby cultural institutions. Campers also receive lunch, snacks, camp photo and a free t-shirt.

FOR CHILDREN ENTERING GRADES PRESCHOOL & KINDERGARTEN
(note that camps for this age group are half day camps)


Creepy Critters • Aug. 3-7 Think like a bug and go crazy! Buzz around Kids Town as your favorite insect, find creepy critter habitats, and learn how bugs come in all shapes and sizes.


Sciencepalooza • Aug. 17-24 Bring your wildest imagination and get ready to discover science through art and literature with hands-on experiments focused on matter, sounds and waves.


FOR CHILDREN ENTERING GRADES 1 – 3


Construction Junction • July 13-17 OR Aug. 10-14 Build a city “working” as an engineer. Using math and science skills, campers will learn what it takes to make a city fit for living with houses, bridges, cars and schools.


Inside and Out Adventures • Aug. 3-7 Become mini-nutritionists, paleontologists and geologists researching your world inside and out. Experiments on how to stay fit and healthy, fossils, rocks, and ways to protect earth will be part of this exploration.


FOR CHILDREN ENTERING GRADES 4 – 6


Amazing Architect • July 13-17 OR Aug. 10-14 Put on your construction hat and explore the fascinating world of building with materials used to construct buildings and bridges as a DSC architect.


Muscles in Motion • Aug. 3-7 What’s the best way to prevent injuries in sports and other activities? Learn about muscles and body systems with games and hands-on projects focused on physical fitness.


FOR CHILDREN ENTERING GRADES 7 – 8


Eekstein’s Science Search • July 27-31 Middle school is the perfect age for introducing the many careers of science and engineering. Explore what the future has to offer by experimenting with chemistry, nanotechnology and physics.


Anatomy Academy • Aug. 10-14 Attention all future doctors! Grab your stethoscope and dive into the human body. Explore muscles, bones and everything in between to learn what it takes to be healthy.
