Less than one month away from the October 10th world debut of the much-anticipated exhibition, The Accidental Mummies of Guanajuato, the Detroit Science Center is making advance tickets available online starting today!
Tickets are $24.95 for adults, $22.95 for seniors (60+) and $19.95 for children (2-12). They are available at www.detroitsciencecenter.org, www.accidentalmummies.com and www.museumtix.com. Museum admission is complimentary with an exhibition ticket.
The Accidental Mummies of Guanajuato is a 10,000 square-foot exhibition that will open to the public on Oct. 10, 2009 in Detroit before embarking on a limited three-year tour across the United States. Featuring 36 accidental mummies on loan from the Museo de las Momias de Guanajuato, the exhibition combines science, history and cultural anthropology to immerse the visitor in the world of a Mexican city over 100 years ago where deceased residents naturally mummified in their crypts.
Visitors to the exhibition will meet the rare accidental mummies, learn about life in their thriving community, discover the real forensic technology that helps scientists analyze them, and explore a rich culture that reveres and celebrates them.

The Accidental Mummies of Guanajuato is an official event of the Mexico 2010 Bicentennial celebration. It is produced by Detroit Science Center Design & Exhibits at Eekstein’s Workshop, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Detroit Science Center that creates captivating, durable, engaging exhibits and displays for museum and corporate clients, in association with Accidental Mummies Touring Company LLC. Thanks for your feedback Gary - We realize that this is a much higher-priced exhibit than usual. Unfortunately, in order to bring exhibits like this to the DSC, we sometimes have to pass along more of the cost to our visitors and members. We are a non-profit organization, so I can assure you that all funds from exhibits like this go toward actual costs. There is an opportunity for members to see the exhibit at a much lower price. Our member preview for Accidental Mummies is scheduled for Thursday, October 15. The charge for this preview will be only $10 per person on your membership and it includes additional refreshments and programming. Invitations are in the mail and yours should arrive at your home shortly.
