Hey Michigan - keep your eyes peeled for Northern Lights!

This photo was taken near Horton, Michigan around 10:15 pm Friday night (Oct 16) facing west, by Mark Reed, Director of the Peter Hurst Planetarium in Jackson, Michigan.

This is the first aurora to be observed in lower Michigan this fall. The slow increase in solar activity as Solar Cycle 24 begins promises more Aurora or Northern Lights for everyone living in the pleasant peninsulas. So keep your eyes peeled, and if you get any pictures, please share them with us!
