REV YOUR ENGINES FOR FUTURE CRUISIN’ 2010 AT THE DETROIT SCIENCE CENTER

Four-day Event Will Feature Fun Family Activities, Pit Crew Challenge, Car Competition and More!

Get ready to rev your engines Aug. 19-22, 2010 at the Detroit Science Center’s first annual Future Cruisin’ event. This one-of-a-kind celebration of advanced automotive technology will feature fun activities for all ages, a classic car showcase and competition, pit crew challenge, Pinewood Derby car races and more.

At the heart of this four-day event is the Advanced Technology Car Showcase & Competition, designed to award trophies and prizes to car enthusiasts who have designed, fabricated and successfully implemented the most advanced technology into their classic cars. Categories include green vehicle (advanced and experimental technology), powertrain, undercarriage/chassis, interiors, paint and body, mural/artistry, audio, design modifications, safety, historical, an award for uniqueness, and an overall “Best of Show.”


In addition to the Showcase & Competition, visitors attending the Detroit Science Center’s Future Cruisin’ event can enjoy four days of activities, including:

  • An exciting Pit Crew Challenge
  • Pinewood Derby car races
  • A Segway riding course
  • NASCAR: The IMAX Experience in Michigan’s largest and only Chrysler IMAX® Dome Theatre
  • The official Motorsports Hall of Fame of America, now located at the Detroit Science Center
  • An Adult Tricycle Obstacle Course and much more!
