Galileoscope workshop at the DSC August 29!

Calling all sky gazers! Join us at the Detroit Science Center to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the astronomical telescope by building your own Galileoscope kit! Assisted by the staff of the Dassault Systèmes Planetarium on Saturday, August 29th from 10 00 AM – 11:30 AM, you and your family will discover how telescopes work, discover the different types of telescopes, and how to use your telescope to discover the wonders of your backyard sky!


The Galileoscope is a 2 inch (50mm) wide refractor telescope that is 20 inches long. The Galileoscope includs an eyepiece and uses standard 1.25” eyepieces. Also included is a copy of Wil Tirion’s and Brian Skiff’s Bright Star Atlas 2000.0, with complete star charts and how to find your way through the heavens.

The cost of the class is $30.00 per family ($25.00 for DSC members)
