STAR TREK SWEETHEARTS PREPARE TO SAY “I DO” IN STAR TREK: THE EXHIBITION AT THE DSC!

For engaged couple Alissa Mellis and Justin Gruba of Troy, Mich., Star Trek symbolizes hope, knowledge and exploration, attributes they hope to infuse into their future life together. Where better then to say “I do” than on the bridge of the USS Enterprise aboard STAR TREK: THE EXHIBITION at the Detroit Science Center?

Mellis and Gruba were the grand prize winners of the STAR TREK: THE EXHIBITION Ultimate Wedding Package contest conducted by the Detroit Science Center earlier this year. The prize package includes private use of the exhibition, reception space at the Detroit Science Center for 200 guests and two night’s accommodations for the wedding couple at the Star Trek Suite at the MGM Grand Detroit Hotel and Casino. The couple will wed at the museum on Saturday, Aug. 22, 2009.

“Marriage is a journey and an adventure,” says Gruba. “Like the voyage of Star Trek we will boldly go into an unknown future together.”

Mellis and Gruba have engaged several Detroit-area businesses to create special Star Trek themed touches for their big day. Among them are Forte Belanger, which has created a Star Trek-themed menu including Violet Vulcan cocktails served at the Borg Bar; Lucky Luke’s Gourmet Chocolates, which is creating custom Klingon Candy made of dark chocolate, caramel, nuts, coconut and popcorn; and Miner’s Den, which is creating custom Star Trek themed wedding rings.

STAR TREK: THE EXHIBITION is an unparalleled experience that features the world’s most comprehensive collection of authentic Star Trek ships, set re-creations, costumes and props from five television series and 10 films over the last 40+ years. The exhibition is entering its final weeks at the Detroit Science Center, where it will close on Sept. 7, 2009.
